My name is Jess.
My vocation is as a Communication Designer, and my passion for all things nature-related
often leads me to be involved in all sorts of interesting and unusual projects.
I have a keen interest in the field of biomimicry; which combines my love of biology, design and research
(and, secretly, engineering) in an ever-evolving industry. I returned to a year of full-time studying in 2015
in order to pursue my Bachelor’s degree in this area of interest. My dissertation topic was
an investigation into how biomimicry can be integrated into a school curriculum.
My corporate design work experience spans working at a design studio dedicated to visual merchandising for retail,
doing print-based BTL design for blue chip clients at a prominent advertising agency, and as a full-time freelance designer.
Other involvements and experience include co-founding a company called Imaginature, where I work as
a communication and education designer, as well as working with various organisations,
where my role has covered design, research, and co-ordination.
I am fluent in English, and conversationally fluent in Afrikaans.
